Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 16, 2026
Les Refuges des Monts places great importance on protecting your personal information and respecting your privacy.
This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain and protect your personal information when you visit our website, subscribe to our newsletter, contact us or make a reservation.
In this policy, “Les Refuges des Monts,” “we,” “our” and “us” refer to the business that operates www.lesrefugesdesmonts.com and provides the accommodation services presented on it.
1. Personal information collected
We may collect different types of personal information depending on how you interact with us.
Newsletter subscription
When you subscribe to our newsletter, we primarily collect:
your email address;
the date, time and source of your subscription;
information that allows us to document your consent;
data about the delivery, opening and use of our communications, when this feature is enabled.
Our newsletter is managed using the Brevo platform.
Reservations and stays
When you make a reservation, including through Guesty, or contact our management team, the following information may be collected:
your name;
your email address;
your telephone number;
your mailing address;
the dates and details of your stay;
the number of guests;
your preferences or special requests;
information needed for billing and payment;
the content of your communications with us or our management team.
Payments may be processed directly by a booking platform or payment service provider. We do not necessarily receive all the information associated with your payment card.
Communications and information requests
When you contact us by email, through a form or through a booking platform, we may collect:
your contact details;
the content of your message;
information needed to respond to your request or follow up on your matter.
Information collected automatically
When you visit our website, certain technical information may be collected automatically, including:
your IP address;
the type of device, browser and operating system used;
the pages visited and actions taken on the website;
the date, time and approximate duration of your visit;
the website or link that directed you to our website;
identifiers associated with cookies.
2. Why we collect this information
We use the personal information collected to:
process and administer reservations;
prepare for stays and ensure they run smoothly;
communicate necessary information before, during and after a stay;
respond to questions, requests and comments;
provide customer support;
send our newsletter, offers and news when you have consented;
organize contests and contact winners;
improve our website, accommodations and services;
produce statistics and analyze the use of our website;
prevent fraud and ensure the security of our systems;
meet our accounting, tax and legal obligations;
handle complaints and protect our rights.
We limit collection to the information reasonably necessary to achieve these purposes.
3. Consent
We collect, use and disclose your personal information with your consent or when authorized by law.
Your consent must be clear, free, informed and given for specific purposes. When we request consent for a new use of your information, that request is presented separately and in simple terms.
You may refuse to provide certain information. However, this refusal could prevent us from processing a reservation, responding to a request or providing certain services.
Consent to the newsletter
Subscribing to our newsletter is voluntary. By subscribing, you consent to receive commercial communications from Les Refuges des Monts.
Each newsletter includes a way to unsubscribe. You may withdraw your consent at any time using that link or by contacting us.
Withdrawal of consent does not retroactively affect any use or disclosure already made in accordance with the law.
4. Cookies, local storage and similar technologies
Our website is hosted on Netlify. The website uses browser storage for certain functions: sessionStorage keeps the dates and number of guests during the session; localStorage remembers when you close the newsletter invitation and suppresses it for 14 days. After a successful subscription, it remembers that choice without automatic expiration so the invitation stays hidden. You can clear these preferences in your browser. This data remains in your browser until it expires or is deleted.
The website code does not load audience analytics or advertising tools. The newsletter form sends information to Brevo only when you submit it; no third-party Brevo script is loaded on the website. Social media links and locally hosted images do not embed tracking modules from those networks.
Our providers and the external websites you visit, including Guesty for bookings, may use their own cookies or similar technologies. These technologies may be used to:
ensure the operation and security of the service;
remember certain preferences;
measure audiences and understand browsing;
improve content and performance;
measure the effectiveness of communications or campaigns.
Some cookies are essential to the operation of services. Others may be associated with analytics, advertising or social media services on those external platforms.
You can manage or delete cookies and local storage data in your browser settings. Refusing certain cookies or deleting stored data may, however, affect how some parts of the services work or reset your preferences.
Where required by law and where a cookie management tool is displayed, you can indicate or change your preferences there.
5. Disclosure to providers and third parties
We do not sell or rent your personal information.
We may disclose it to providers that help us operate our services, only when disclosure is necessary. These providers may include:
Netlify, for website hosting and operation;
Brevo, for managing subscriptions and sending the newsletter;
Prohost Québec, for reservation management and customer service;
Guesty and other booking platforms used to make or manage a stay;
payment providers;
providers of computing hosting, security, analytics or technical support;
our professional advisers, including accountants, insurers or legal advisers.
These providers are authorized to use the information only to provide the requested services, subject to their contractual and legal obligations.
We may also disclose certain information when required by law, in response to a valid order or to protect our rights, our safety or the safety of others.
6. Processing outside Québec
Some of our technology providers may process or store personal information outside Québec or Canada.
In that case, the information may be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction where it is processed. Before disclosing personal information outside Québec, we take the measures required by law to assess risks and ensure adequate protection.
7. Retention and destruction
We retain personal information only for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy and meet our legal obligations.
The retention period may vary depending on:
the nature and sensitivity of the information;
the reason it was collected;
the length of our relationship with the person concerned;
accounting, tax, contractual and legal obligations;
the need to address a complaint or protect our rights.
Information associated with the newsletter is retained until you unsubscribe or until the service is no longer offered. After you unsubscribe, certain minimal information may be retained to respect your choice and demonstrate that your request was processed.
When information is no longer needed, it is securely destroyed or anonymized where permitted by law.
8. Security measures
We apply reasonable administrative, technical and physical measures to protect personal information against:
unauthorized access;
loss or theft;
unauthorized use or disclosure;
alteration;
accidental destruction.
Access to information is limited to the people and providers who need it to carry out their duties.
Despite these measures, no transmission over the Internet and no computer system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
9. Your rights
Subject to the conditions and exceptions provided by law, you may request:
access to the personal information we hold about you;
the correction of inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous information;
the withdrawal of your consent;
information about the use and disclosure of your information;
the cessation of dissemination or the de-indexing of certain information, where this right applies;
the disclosure of certain computerized information in a structured, commonly used technological format, where the right to portability applies.
We may need to verify your identity before responding to a request. We will respond within the time limits set by law.
If we cannot act on your request, we will explain the reasons for our decision, subject to the limits provided by law.
10. Complaints
You may contact the person responsible for the protection of personal information to ask a question or make a complaint.
Every complaint will be handled confidentially. We will review the situation and contact you within a reasonable time.
You may also contact the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec if you believe your rights have not been respected.
11. Third-party links and services
Our website may contain links to booking platforms, social networks or other websites operated by third parties.
When you leave our website, the information collected by those third parties is governed by their own privacy policies. We encourage you to read those policies before providing personal information to them.
The site displays a presentation video hosted on Wix and uses Google Fonts for the activity guide and newsletter form. Loading these resources can transmit technical information, such as your IP address, to these providers. The video starts only when you choose to play it.
12. Information about children
Our services are not intended to knowingly collect personal information directly from children without the required consent of a parent or a person with parental authority.
If you believe a child has provided personal information to us without appropriate consent, please contact us.
13. Changes to the policy
We may change this policy to reflect changes in our practices, services or legal obligations.
The most recent version will be published on our website with its update date. If a significant change is made, we will take reasonable steps to inform you.
14. Person responsible for the protection of personal information
The management of Les Refuges des Monts acts as the person responsible for the protection of personal information.
To exercise your rights, ask a question or make a complaint, you may contact us:
